Work in Progress - February 2009

WIP February 2009 from Paul Caggegi on Vimeo.

Thanks for listening to the double-whammy of discussion point this month. There may be a possibility of a repeat phenomenon in months to come, as Cello and I get down to the dirty business of putting pen to paper and writing some friggin WORDS.

In the meantime this month, I focus on the character design for David Winfield, and some uniform concepts for the two vent miners. Also: some new tech, some general sketch ideas, and even some crude 3D models of some early sets. I have even begun working on some simulations for the asteroid impact, which I've tacked onto the end of this month's WIP video.

I am working on some more uniforms, but the two I focused on this month are ones which reflect the character's position as well as their job. Winfield's uniform should suggest some sort of corporate-ness, but that he has the ability to go out into the field. However, he would never do any menial work, or get into any danger.

Blair's, on the other hand, should show that he is well protected. Possibly from thermal exposure, or a harsh environment.

As you would have heard from the Discussion points, we are working on a prologue which will show an impact disaster of some sort. I'm still working on the physics, and Blender has some really cool Physics tools in its arsenal. Over the next month, I shall be refining the preliminary example which I have thrown in.

Just want to say that its all looking extremely good and want to say your really making a very professional job of it all. I’ve always loved seeing design card stuff like that. And was great to finally see some animation with the telescope.

Hey thanks, Michael, as always. I hope you stay tuned this month, cos I got some more stuff that's cooking. There will be three posts in March, and the WIP video is already shaping up to contain some interesting content.
